Beyond the Classroom
The Music Department offers a vibrant range of extra-curricular opportunities that allow students to engage deeply with music and performance. Highlights include Talent Night, the Christmas concert, school musicals, Arts Week and memorable school trips to cities like Vienna and Milan, which provide enriching cultural and musical experiences.
Students can join a variety of ensembles, including choirs, orchestras, and jazz or rock bands, catering to a range of musical interests and abilities. Weekly rehearsals encourage teamwork, dedication, and skill development, and performances at school events and community venues offer students the chance to share their music with others.
Our Instrumental Music Programme supports students in achieving personal milestones, with many pursuing advanced grades in ABRSM and Rockschool exams.
Through these ensembles and programmes, students discover the joy of making music together, building lasting connections and skills.
Instrumental Music Programme
We have a heritage of outstanding music at The English School. Almost a third of our students play a musical instrument, and many gain Grade 8 ABRSM or take Rockschool and other recognised music exams.
Technical brilliance is only part of the picture because music is about playing together, exploration and performance. Every week we rehearse different ensembles, and we love to share our music. Our students are given every opportunity to perform at school, in the local community and on our international music tours.
