Action 1: Development and ongoing of IAL resources for AS and A2.
This aspect will form the main focus for T&L in 2023/24 and appropriate milestones will be developed to ensure appropriate monitoring of progress and consistency.
Action 2: Introduction of 360° Appraisal
This appraisal should focus on:
- Classroom observation
- Work Scrutiny
- Contribution to departmental/pastoral team development/Collegiality
- Professional development
- Extra-curricular activities
Further discussion is necessary to agree on detailed mechanisms to enable all of the above to be adequately evaluated and recorded.
Action 3: Digital Literacy Development
Departments to develop resources for year groups/areas of study of their choice for the 2024-25 academic year. The 2023/24 period will be used as a period to refine and strengthen the IT infrastructure in order to fully implement a digital literacy plan in 2024/25.
Action 4: Readiness for ISI inspection in 2023/2024
The inspection is schedule for term 2 (Feb 2024-following discussion with ISI)
- Policy Review-all school policies require review against the ISI framework.
- Pastoral Care-a number of changes are planned for the 2023/24 academic year (to include PSHCE arrangements, changes to Mental Health and Wellbeing policy [to compensate for mentoring]. As a wider aspect of developing whole-school practice, classroom management priorities need to be reviewed with an increased emphasis on attendance and punctuality).
Outcomes of the SAP
- The IAL (IAS) has been successfully implemented into Year 6. There is now ongoing work to ensure the development into Year 7. Additionally, Design and Technology and English will be adopting the IAS curricula in 2024-25.
- 360° Evaluations were introduced for the SLT and HoDs. These included evaluations by colleagues and students. Additionally, systems were trailed for teacher evaluation by students for full implementation in 2024-25 where students will provide feedback twice a year to each of their teachers. The BlueSky system was introduced for teachers where lesson observations were recorded as well as professional development and goals.
- Digital Literacy planning was completed for the 2024-25 year with a BYOD plan being put in place for Year 1 in that year. Infrastructure has been improved with additional electronic screens being placed in more classrooms.
- i. Planning for the ISI inspection has been completed with all Policy reviews required for the inspections having been approved by the BoM.
- ii. Some changes to Pastoral systems have proved problematic with further alterations being put in place for 2024-25 to ensure that the needs of all students are being met (particularly in the Upper School). A PSHCE Coordinator has been appointed to ensure consistency of delivery of this programme across all year groups.
