Form Tutors
At The English School, our Pastoral Team is dedicated to supporting the academic, emotional, and social well-being of every student. We believe that fostering a sense of belonging and purpose is essential to a student’s development and success. Our pastoral care system is structured to ensure that every individual feels seen, heard, and supported throughout their time at the school.
The Role of Form Tutors
Form Tutors are at the heart of our pastoral care system, acting as the first point of contact for students and parents. Each Form Tutor provides personalized guidance, helping students navigate the challenges of school life while fostering a positive, inclusive environment within their form groups. They are responsible for:
- Building strong, supportive relationships with students to ensure their well-being and sense of belonging.
- Monitoring academic progress and addressing any concerns in collaboration with subject teachers.
- Encouraging open communication and supporting students in developing resilience, confidence, and interpersonal skills.
- Promoting respect, empathy, and collaboration within the form group and across the school community.
- Acting as a liaison between students, parents, and the wider pastoral team to provide holistic support.
Head of Years
The Head of Years oversee the pastoral care of each year group, working closely with Form Tutors to ensure that students are thriving academically and emotionally. They play a pivotal role in:
- Leading initiatives to enhance the well-being and development of students within their year group.
- Addressing concerns or challenges that may arise and implementing appropriate support strategies.
- Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the pastoral system is effective and responsive to students’ needs.
Senior Leadership and Pastoral Oversight
The Pastoral Team is supported by the Senior Leadership Team, which ensures that pastoral care remains a central focus of school life. They work to:
- Embed the values of respect, empathy, and inclusivity in all aspects of school life.
- Evaluate and refine pastoral practices to meet the evolving needs of the student body.
- Encourage a culture of kindness, responsibility, and community spirit.
