Step-by-Step Over One School Year
 
The procedure and timeframe of establishing the Company Programme in Europe. For schools starting in September, this can be the timeline:
 
STEP TIME OF THE YEAR
Step 1: Motivation & Ideas
  • Intro/motivation
  • Creativity exercises and practicing idea generation
  • Brainstorm for a real business idea
The first 2-3 weeks
2-3 hours in class time

Step 2: Organising
  • Students select the idea they would like to be involved in
  • Groups are established
  • Learn about roles and jobs in the company
  • Prepare for the first meeting with the mentor
  • Prepare to form the Board of Directors
  • Prepare for the first Board Meeting and discuss the agenda
  • Meet mentor
  • Hold first group meeting / board meeting
  • Allocate students to different jobs
  • Work on shaping the idea / SWOT/ write the business idea
  • Prepare documents for the foundation meeting and invitation to the meeting
The second 2-3 weeks
3-6 hours in class time
October - November
 
First meeting with the mentor – about 1-2 hours
 
Step 3: Shaping & Establishing
  • Market research
  • Network mapping
  • Name for the company
  • Sell shares
  • Bookkeeping/ Cash Recording
  • Hold the formal foundation meeting
  • Give a presentation of the business ideas in the schools / for teacher / headmaster
  • Complete Business Model Canvas
Total class time 3-6 hours
November - December
 
Second meeting with the mentor 1-2 hours
 
Step 4: Ready for Action
  • Procurement and production
  • Marketing plan
  • Production
  • Sell the product / service

December – February 
 
Third meeting with mentor 1-2 hours+ spontaneous contact / e-mails / phone calls
Mainly out of school work / spare time
Step 5: Competing & Closing  
Closing the Company
  • Preparation for liquidation
  • Participation in competitions / trade fairs
  • Company Report
  • Closing and Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • The future
Total class time 3-4 hours plus students will prepare for their participation in the Trade Fair and competitions
