A-Level Highlights

• 94% secured a place at their first-choice university
• Students will continue their studies across 10 countries
• 8% of A-Level grades were A*-A, compared with a UK average of 28.5%
• 92% of A-Level grades were A*-C, compared with a UK average of 78.4%

I/GCSE Highlights

• 8% of all I/GCSE grades were 9-8
• 6% were grades 9-7, compared with a UK average of 23.1%
• 8% were grades 9-4, compared with a UK average of 70.7%

We congratulate all our students on their achievements and wish them every success as they embark on the next stage of their academic and professional journeys.

The English School Voices Community Choir is preparing for an exciting new season and is inviting new members to join.

Open to alumni, parents, members of staff and friends of the School, the choir welcomes singers of all levels of experience. No previous choir experience is required and there are no auditions. Music and rehearsal resources are provided to support all members.

This year, the choir is particularly keen to welcome additional tenors and basses.

The season will include performances at Nine Lessons and Carols during the Christmas period and the Festival of Choirs in Spring 2027.

The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, 9 September at 7:30 p.m. in The English School Hall.

The English School is pleased to share the Summer 2026 edition of The Legacy Continues, our Alumni Newsletter celebrating the enduring relationship between the School and its alumni community.

The English School Summer School offered students another memorable summer filled with creativity, learning and new experiences.

Through a varied programme of activities and hands-on workshops, students had the opportunity to explore new interests, develop their skills, make new friends and enjoy learning in an engaging environment.

The programme provided a positive and enriching experience for all involved, combining learning with creativity, collaboration and fun.

We thank all our students, staff and families for contributing to another successful Summer School.

The English School is delighted to congratulate students Nikolas Kekkou (2J) and Anastasios Valiantis (2R) on securing second place in the 3kg SUMO category at the Pancyprian Robotics Competition – ROBOTEX Cyprus 2026 held on 28 June 2026.

The achievement reflects the students’ dedication, perseverance, problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for robotics. Throughout their preparation for the competition, Nikolas and Anastasios demonstrated excellent teamwork and commitment as they worked together to overcome challenges and continually improve their robot.

Their success is a wonderful example of the skills students develop through opportunities that encourage creativity, collaboration and practical problem-solving beyond the classroom.

We congratulate Nikolas and Anastasios on their achievement and look forward to following their future successes in robotics and beyond.

This summer, more than 200 students and teachers represented The English School on seven educational journeys across three continents, providing students with valuable opportunities to learn and develop beyond the classroom.

From academic fieldwork and language immersion to cultural exchange and community service, each trip enabled students to broaden their horizons, experience new cultures, apply their learning in different settings and develop valuable personal and interpersonal skills.

These experiences would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of our staff, whose enthusiasm, guidance and care helped make each journey an enriching and memorable experience for our students.

On Wednesday 17th June 2026, we were delighted to welcome to the school H.E. the British High Commissioner, Mr Michael Tatham CMG, as Guest of Honour at the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Presentation Ceremony. He was thrilled to attend the event and present the new Gold Awardees with their certificates and pin badges.

This year’s achievements in the Award programme have not only equipped students with invaluable life skills but have also fostered a sense of accomplishment and confidence that will undoubtedly benefit them in their future endeavours. The event was a wonderful celebration of our students’ hard work, dedication, and achievements. This academic year has been remarkable with a total of 208 Award completions (120 Bronze Awards, 65 Silver Awards, and 23 Gold Awards) so far.

During the event, it was also a great pleasure to welcome three ESL2002 Gold Awardees, Anna-Maria Shiarli, Elpida Phitidis and Stella Nikolaou, back to the school. They had very fond memories of their Gold Award Adventurous Journeys and Residential Project in Finland 25 years ago, and they shared many interesting stories from their experiences.

The English School is pleased to congratulate Year 5 student Maximos Rigas Psaltis on his selection as a member of Team Ctrl + Alt + Dialogue, one of only 20 teams chosen across the Council of Europe’s 46 member states to compete in the grand final of the Democracy Hackathon, “Hack the Hate, Renew Democracy”.

Maximos will be at the Palais de l’ Europe in Strasbourg from 17 to 19 June 2026, where the four-member team will present “Civic Bridge AI”; an artificial intelligence application that detects hate speech on social media, evaluates its severity anonymously and proposes targeted educational interventions grounded in Council of Europe conventions and frameworks from social and developmental psychology.

As the team’s youngest member at 17 years old, Maximos contributed the authentic student perspective, helping to shape the application’s design so that it meets the real needs of adolescent users. His involvement reflects the interdisciplinary spirit of the project, which brings together expertise in psychology, computer science, education and audiovisual communication from a team of researchers and practitioners affiliated with the University of Cyprus and other institutions.

The Hackathon final coincides with the Council of Europe’s “No Hate Speech Week” and will conclude with a speech by Secretary General Alain Berset. Winning teams will receive funding, mentoring and implementation support to bring their solutions to a pan-European scale.

The English School warmly congratulates Maximos on this achievement and wishes the entire Ctrl + Alt + Dialogue team every success in Strasbourg.

On 16 June 2026, The English School hosted King Richard School from the British Eastern Sovereign Base Area in Dhekelia for a Year 1 and 2 11-a-side football match.

This was the first fixture between the two schools for several years, offering students and staff an opportunity to renew sporting links through competitive school football.

The match was played in hot conditions and began with King Richard School taking an early lead against the run of play. The English School responded well, with goals from Theo Taramides and Stelios Solomou turning the scoreline around. The team then built on this momentum, producing a strong attacking performance and finishing with a 12–2 victory.

Well done to all students who represented the school.
