We were delighted to welcome back The English School alumna Agni Poullikka, who currently works in the Directorate-General Communications at the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt, for an inspiring presentation to our Economics students on 9 October.
Agni shared her personal and professional journey from Cyprus to the UK and eventually to the ECB, highlighting the opportunities that education, ambition and determination can open up. During her presentation, “Europe, the Euro & the ECB,” students gained valuable insights into the role of the European Central Bank, the importance of price stability, monetary policy and banking supervision. Agni also explored the future of the euro, including the development of the digital euro, helping students connect economic concepts studied in the classroom with real-world developments.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, giving students the opportunity to ask questions and gain first-hand insights from someone who once walked the same corridors and has gone on to build a successful international career. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with a member of our alumni community and inspire our students to explore the possibilities that lie ahead.
Thank you, Agni, for returning to The English School and generously sharing your knowledge, experiences and inspiration with the next generation!
