Vart Alteparmakian How long have you been at the school?
I joined The English School as a Science and Chemistry teacher in
1994 having taught for eight years at the Melkonian Educational
Institute, years, which I will cherish. In 2000, I was appointed as
the Head of Department.
How do you feel you have changed as a teacher throughout
your career?
The English School family embraced me and gave me the oppor-
tunity to grow as both a person and a teacher. The family was
small then and times were happier. The School community was
closely knit with very tight teacher-student relationships.
Do you think it’s true that students have changed in the
last 2 or 3 decades?
There was greater commitment by students to become indepen-
dent learners and were passionately involved in extracurricular
activities. I was privileged enough to educate and be educated
by not only some great minds in those days but young people
with ethos and impeccable character. Students took pride being
Antonis Antoniou a member of The English School family. I will take away with me
the memories of those years.
Antonis Antoniou rst joined The English School in 1969 as a
student and then as an Economics teacher from 1989-2019.
