Year 2 Students Pilot Innovative STEAM Project on Fast Fashion

During Term 2 of 2025, Year 2 classes 2G and 2J piloted the Erasmus+ DataScEd4CiEn STEAM scenario “What is the True Cost of Your Clothes?” The project asked students to investigate the social, environmental and economic effects of fast fashion through Data Science and interdisciplinary learning.

Students worked with authentic datasets on textile production, landfill waste and water consumption, using CODAP to identify patterns and use evidence in their conclusions. They also examined working conditions in the garment industry and considered questions of ethical consumption and social justice.

The pilot included creative responses across Art, Design & Technology, English and Computer Science. Students produced digital campaigns, narratives, upcycled textile products and websites, culminating in practical work that connected data analysis with design and communication.

This pilot informed the wider Year 2 implementation in 2026.
