Chinese New Year Event

Our Year 1 students were captivated by a presentation on Chinese New Year traditions, gaining insight into the festival’s rich customs. They also enjoyed a musical performance of the “Spring Festival Overture”  from their fellow students Peiqi Song , Zilin Su( piano), XiTong Peng (violin), Yihuan Xie (flute) and YouYou Tian (cello)
Adding to the excitement of the day, students were treated to a Chinese sword dance and an impressive Kung Fu demonstration, showcasing the discipline, strength, and artistry of this ancient martial art.

This enriching experience brought Chinese culture closer to our students, deepening their appreciation for its traditions. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Confucius Institute at UCY and the Cyprus Wushu Kung Fu Federation for making this special day possible.
Happy Year of the Snake!

The English School at the European Parliament: Democracy in Action

This unique opportunity brought together a collaborative delegation, including five students and one teacher from Lefkara High School, as well as 12 Turkish Cypriot students and two teachers. Together, they joined peers from across the European Union, seated in the prestigious chambers of the European Parliament, to engage in meaningful discussions on a variety of important topics.

We were also privileged to have our own journalist, Mr. Andreas Aristotelous from Alpha TV, cover this significant event, adding an additional layer of professionalism and recognition to our participation. An article on the event can be found here: Alpha News – Euroscola.
All expenses for the teachers, students, and the journalist were covered by the European Parliament. This visit marked the conclusion of a series of events organized over the past year as part of the European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS) program, which earned us the distinguished title of The English School, European Parliament Ambassador School 2024-2025.

Guided by representatives of the European Parliament, the students actively debated key issues, showcasing democracy in action and envisioning a brighter future for Europe. This event served as a platform for students to explore leadership, cooperation, and critical thinking while connecting with young minds from different cultural backgrounds.

The English School is immensely proud of its students, who exemplified the qualities of responsible global citizens and future changemakers. Experiences like this inspire our young leaders to thrive and contribute to shaping a better tomorrow for Europe and beyond.

Breaking Records: Antonis Galatopoulos and Harris Fereos Shine in Pancyprian Swimming Competitions

On December 22 and 23, 2024, Antonis and Harris were part of the 4x50m freestyle and 4x50m mixed relay teams that shattered two Pancyprian records for 14-year-old boys (Παμπαίδων Α). Most notably, the freestyle relay team obliterated the previous record by an impressive 10 seconds, a feat that reflects their dedication, perseverance, and extraordinary teamwork.

In addition to these incredible relay achievements, Antonis Galatopoulos also excelled in individual events. Among boys born in 2010, he recorded the fastest times in the 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke events, securing the fifth-best time overall, even when competing against men. Furthermore, he achieved the second-best time in the 100m freestyle for his age group. These accomplishments underscore Antonis’ exceptional talent and commitment to swimming.

The English School congratulates Antonis and Harris on these outstanding achievements. Their hard work and determination not only brought them personal success but also inspired their peers and demonstrated the spirit of excellence that defines our school community.

We are incredibly proud of Antonis and Harris and look forward to witnessing their future successes in and out of the pool. Bravo!
