What’s On
Lunar New Year
February 1st, 2022 marked the beginning of the Lunar New Year which is celebrated by over 1.5 billion people around the world. 2002 is the Year of the Tiger which stands for courage, strength, and generosity.
To mark this event on Friday, 28th January teachers from the Confucius Institute at University of Cyprus visited our school and shared with our students facts and traditions about the Lunar New Year. YouYou Tian (2W) and Yuanhong Xie (6B) welcomed our guests with a performance of the Chinese Folk Song "Mo Li Hua" (Mòlìhuā ; 茉莉花, Jasmine Flower).
This was followed by an interactive presentation in the Music room to Year 1 students who are currently learning about Chinese Music and by a calligraphy session with Year 6 students in the Art room. The students were deeply engaged, participated enthusiastically and each one of them received a gift to take home.
On February 1st we celebrated the occasion with live performances by Peiqi Song (2B), YouYou Tian (2W), Yuanhong Xie (6B), XiTong Peng (4J), Xinhui He (3Y). The students shared music from their culture and performed by the beautiful display prepared by the Art Department.
恭喜发财! Gōngxǐ fācái!

Discovering La Reunion island with our French assistant
Panagiotis Kleanthous, in 2 Red, talks about his experience :
La Reunion is a French territory that is geographically below Seychelles. Ms Lucille explained the people's traditions, like how they dress, and she introduced us to the fascinating places on the island. There is a volcano, and it is covered with snow in the winter. Another exciting attraction is the village that the people who escaped from slavery built. It is like a majestic forest with houses in it. An interesting fact is that there is no internet connection in that village! She also brought us some of the local products of La Reunion, like spices and vanilla. We smelt the products, and it was one of the most interesting parts of the presentation. It was a great experience to learn about a different country, a different culture, and the local products of another country!
Thank you Ms Lucille!
Another success at the Pancyprian Dressage Championships
The event was organised by the Cyprus Equestrian Federation.
Well Done Phivi, we are very proud of you.
