What’s On
Astronomy Club Trip
We went to Xyliatos dam, which is situated away from the light pollution of our big city. It was the peak of the Leonid meteor shower and although there were patches of cloud, we had the opportunity to see some shooting stars. We also observed the ring nebula, the andromeda galaxy, star clusters, binary stars and planets with our telescopes too!!!
It was pretty cold up there at night, but we will be going again soon, it was amazing!
Reach out
It doesn’t stop with young people. From teachers to parents and influencers to politicians, we all have a part to play. Reach out to someone you trust if you need to talk. Reach out to someone if you know they’re being bullied. Reach out by being the change you want to see.
It takes courage, but it can change lives.
Let’s come together and REACH OUT to stop bullying…
By Year 4 and 5 students 2022-2023.
Many thanks to Sky Drone Cyprus and Komis Komninos photography.
Year 1 Anti-Bullying Initiatives
November is Anti-bullying month at our school and in Year 1 we focused on the following prevention strategies:
- Assembly on the theme ‘Reach out’ – This year’s theme is geared towards promoting a respectful ethos and treating each other with kindness.
- Assembly on understanding the definition of bullying, the impact on children, and the roles involved – we spoke about the negative effects it can have on one’s mental health and the roles we each play, or could play, in bullying (bully, target, assistant, reinforcer, defender, and bystander).
- Odd Socks Day – Often children are bullied due to perceived differences, because they ‘stand out’ more than other children. While coming to school wearing our odd socks, we celebrated what makes us all unique to help prevent this happening!
- Motivational quotes – Our students researched motivational quotes relating to bullying, remembering the theme ‘Reach Out’. Then, they chose one that means the most to them and created posters displayed at Lloyd’s building.
- Thank you cards – finally, we created thank you cards for peers, teachers and family members to show our gratitude to all those who made a big difference to our day with one small, kind action.
Year 3 assembly
Julien swam a total of 280 km in the span of 28 days, starting from Pomos Municipal Beach and ending at Finikoudes Beach in Larnaca.
Julien is fundraising for Generation for Change CY. This non-profit organization strives for a diverse and inclusive society where everyone has access to opportunities. The organisation focuses on supporting and developing vulnerable groups. The humanitarian aid programmes provide food, clothing, hygiene essentials and kitchen utensils to support people living under difficult circumstances i.e., people at risk of poverty, single parents, large families, and refugees.
We were honoured to have Julien speak to our Year 3 students today. He truly inspired them with his story.

More than just telescopes!
Dr Robert will discuss the variety of tools, and skills astrophysicists rely on to acquire, process, and analyse observational data, as well as to predict and interpret results in the context of fundamental physical principles. As well as modern telescopes and the physics applied, Robert will take a look at the computational tools required for rapid calculations to tackle massive volumes of data and large-scale theoretical simulations.
Educational Trips Abroad
Visits to countries beyond the Island provide students with numerous benefits in terms of developing their social and cultural experiences, enhancing language provision and appreciating other ways of life, along with the apparent sightseeing.
Trip Organisers will communicate with parents in due course.
