University of Bristol’s School of Economics Hosts Interactive Session at The English School

The event took place on Friday, March 3rd, at 1.45 pm in Room 16, where the students had the opportunity to learn from esteemed experts in the field of economics.

The session was led by Dr Jahir Islam, a lecturer in Economics and the School of Economics International Director. He discussed the topic, "Why Economic Development and Not Just Growth?" in detail, highlighting the interrelationship between economic growth and development. Dr Islam talked about the challenges of converting growth into development and how it is not always guaranteed, particularly due to the absence of an environment where opportunities for and realization of the potentials of the wider population are ensured. He emphasized the need to maintain the benefits of development for future generations, even in the face of internal and external shocks.

In addition to Dr Islam's talk, the students had the opportunity to meet with Ms Natasha Kerven, the School of Economics International Officer. Ms Kerven shared her insights on student recruitment and partnership development, and provided valuable guidance to the students on their journey to study economics and business-related subjects at the University of Bristol.

Dr Islam and Ms Kerven's visit was an excellent opportunity for the students of The English School to learn from experts in the field of economics and explore potential career pathways. The interactive session was an engaging and informative event, and we thank the University of Bristol's School of Economics for their participation.

We appreciate the contributions made by Dr Islam and Ms Kerven, and we look forward to welcoming them back to our school in the future.
