Excellent Results from our Students in the National Phase of the European Statistics Competition
The competition was open to all secondary education-age students who were studying at any officially recognized educational institution in Cyprus. Each team consisted of two to three pupils and a teacher from their institution who acted as the tutor. Our school was represented in the competition by Team STATIES consisting of three Year 5 students and one tutor, Mr Michalis Gavrielides.
The competition comprised of two assignments. In the first assignment, which included three parts, a total of 111 teams consisting of 322 students participated. The top 11 teams with the highest score in the upper secondary education category qualified for the second assignment, in which they had to prepare a statistical presentation based on the analysis of a dataset given by the organizers.
We are thrilled to announce that our students achieved the highest score among the upper secondary schools, winning the 1st award and the right to participate in the European phase of the competition. The first assignment included a basic knowledge test, the use of official statistical data sources test, and an interpretation of statistical reports test.
