Empowering Future Leaders: ES Students’ Journey as European Parliament Ambassadors

A Transformative Experience at the House of Representatives
During a visit to the House of Representatives, these students transcended the boundaries of a simulated debate. As representatives themselves, they had the exceptional privilege of engaging in discussions with Member of Parliament, Mr. Demetri Demetriou. This unique opportunity allowed them to delve into real-world political discourse, gaining insights into pressing issues and the complexities of governance.

Parallel to their discussions with MP Demetriou, the students had the chance to explore the historical significance and inner workings of the Vouli (House of Representatives) from Mrs. Panayiota Hadjisimou. This holistic approach immersed them in a simulated legislative process and provided a multifaceted understanding of the political landscape.

A Pathway to Junior Ambassadors of the European Parliament

Guided by their dedicated teachers, Virginia Rengel Kefala and Niki Melanidou, who serve as Senior Ambassadors, the students are on a mission to elevate their school's status to that of a European Parliament Ambassador School. This journey is part of the broader framework of the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS), which seeks to enhance students' awareness of European parliamentary democracy, emphasize the role of the European Parliament, and promote European values.

However, this program goes beyond theoretical knowledge; it encourages active participation in EU democratic processes. By providing students with firsthand experiences and fostering meaningful interactions with parliamentary representatives, it instills a sense of responsibility and empowers them to become informed and engaged citizens of Europe.

A Commitment to European Values and Democracy

In today's interconnected world, fostering political awareness and civic responsibility among young minds is paramount. The ES students' participation in the "School-Ambassador" program and their pursuit of becoming Junior Ambassadors of the European Parliament is a testament to their commitment to European values and democracy.

As these students continue to immerse themselves in the intricacies of politics and governance, they are not just building their knowledge but also their character as future leaders. Their journey serves as an inspiration for others, highlighting the transformative power of education and active involvement in shaping the future of our continent.

Stay tuned for more updates on their remarkable journey as they strive to make their school a European Parliament Ambassador School and champion the cause of European democracy.
