                                                                           THIS MAGAZINE COMES OUT AT THE
                                                                           TAIL END OF AN UNPRECEDENTED
                                                                           PANDEMIC, WHICH HAS AFFECTED
                                                                           CYPRUS LIKE THE REST OF THE
                                                                           WORLD. THROUGH EVERY MAJOR
                                                                           CRISIS, CREATIVITY MAY BE
                                                                           AFFECTED FOR VARIOUS REASONS,
                                                                           INCLUDING RESOURCE AND
                                                                           FINANCIAL RESTRAINTS OR DUE
                                                                           TO PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACT.
                                                                           HOWEVER, IT IS WORTH NOTING
                                                                           THAT CREATIVITY CAN ALSO BE A
                                                                           DRIVING FORCE AND AN EXIT
                                                                           STRATEGY. WE HAVE HAD TO
                                                                           EXPAND THE MIND, RETHINK,
                                                                           ADJUST AND RESHAPE DURING
                                                                           THESE CHALLENGING TIMES OF
                                                                           UNCERTAINTY AND CRITICAL LIFE
                                                                           CHANGES.
                                                                             It would be fitting to include the Editorial
                                                                           of the June 1975 School Magazine. With
                                                                           stark directness, it is noted that despite
                                                                           turbulent times, there was no excuse for
                                                                           students not having pulled their weight!

                                                                                       EDITORIAL

                                                                             The fact that this issue of The English School
                                                                           Magazine is the only one for the current school   es chronicles
                                                                           year is an indication of financial stringency
                                                                           rather than a lack of vigour in the school,
                                                                           which like most Cyprus institutions has shown
                                                                           remarkable resilience in overcoming the
                                                                           difficulties created by war and invasion. A great
                                                                           many activities have gone on in the school this
                                                                           year, most of which are chronicled in these pages.   09
                                                                             However, a school magazine should be
                                                                           more than a chronicle, and it was not financial
                                                                           stringency that almost confines the content of
                                                                           this issue to official reports. Pupils must
                                                                           remember that they will not get out of the
                                                                           magazine more than they collectively put in.
                                                                           There are no literary contributions in this issue
                                                                           because none were submitted. Nor was any
                                                                           Greek language material submitted by pupils.
