Five English School students represented our school at the Research and Innovation Foundation’s student science-communication competition “Science Unfold 2025.” We are proud to announce that Year 5 student Christos Kontopoulos earned second place with his talk, “Turning Cells into Cancer Fighters.”
Organised by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) for the fourth consecutive year and held within European Researchers’ Night 2025, the competition challenged students to explain how science and innovation help solve life’s great challenges, under the theme: “Mission possible! How have science and innovation provided solutions to life’s great challenges?” Competitors had just three minutes to present to a judging panel and the public.
Our entrants (Lyceum category):
Dimitris Avraamides; Chinar Akansoy; Christos Kontopoulos — Second Place: “Turning Cells into Cancer Fighters”; Stavros Kouyialis; Konstantinos Trigkas.
Our participants delivered inspirational and original talks drawing on metabolic, electrical and nuclear engineering, and explored how these fields contribute to tackling climate change, advancing turtle conservation, and improving cancer treatment.
Congratulations to Christos for his award and to all five students for their ambition, clarity and confidence on stage. We also extend our appreciation to their teachers and families for their guidance and support.
