Senior Debate Society President Champion Debater, Leader and Future Lawyer

With two more years to look forward to, I can’t wait for what lies ahead and the unknown challenges I will overcome. What I do know is that The School will always be by my side to cheer me on!

Biography

Reflecting upon my academic journey thus far I can honestly say that The English School was always the driving factor behind my every ambition and aspiration. Currently I am studying for my IGCSEs – my courses centring around humanities – as a fifth former. Despite following this full programme of 9 subjects at school, my teachers are always willing to help with any concerns I might have, and take time to expertly deliver engaging lessons.

For me, my school is a place that fosters the development of my critical thinking and goals in life. Being awarded Founder’s Day and ECA awards year after year makes my family proud of my consistent achievements, whilst my involvement in extra-curriculars rewards me with invaluable experience and memories!

Music was a very important part of my school life in lower school. As a violinist in the School’s String Orchestra, I had the opportunity to perform in many school and charity events. Transitioning from middle to upper school, debating has become a highlight of my school life. As a member of The English Debating Society since the second form, I developed strong public speaking and critical thinking skills, which allowed me to earn many distinctions in this field, having even become the President of the society (2023-24). In November of 2024 I was awarded Best Lawyer at a mock trial competition alongside a scholarship and internship, whilst since Year 3 I have been actively involved in the European Youth Parliament (EYP), being selected to my first national session of EYP Cyprus in 2023, whilst this year I had the privilege of chairing at the 18th National Session of EYP CY – a testament to my growth and commitment.

This is what I find sets The English School apart: its emphasis on excellence beyond the classroom!

I am equally passionate about Model United Nations (MUNs). I was honoured to represent The School at the ACMUN in Thessaloniki, where I enjoyed engaging with other delegates from across Europe and beyond. I participated in our school’s flagship MUN conference, Medimun, in 2024 and 2025, and am also excited to join the school delegation at the THIMUN conference in The Hague in February 2025. I also attended the MUN of the University of Cyprus, and was awarded “Outstanding Delegate”, as well as ICYDC, in which I was deemed “Best Delegate” last year. All these remarkable experiences contribute to forming my future path and have shaped me into the person I am today.

Clubs and extracurricular activities offer some of the most enjoyable aspects of school life. My experiences in EYP, MUN, and debating have been both enriching and rewarding, helping me develop invaluable skills for the future and aiding me in my development. With two years in Years 6 and 7 to look forward to, I can’t wait for what lies ahead and the unknown challenges I will overcome. What I do know is that The school will always be by my side to cheer me on!
