Mid-Programme Entry into Year 6

Key Stage 5 – Year 12 following UK Curriculum Group Structure

Students who have completed their IGCSEs or equivalent qualifications may apply for Entry into Year 6, the start of the A Level programme. Admission is based on academic achievement, subject suitability, and space within A Level subject blocks.

For the academic year 2026-2027, applications are highly competitive with very few spots available.

Registrations

All students must register to sit the Mid-Programme Entrance Exam. Register your child, by completing our online registration form (please refer to Key Dates).

You will need to upload the following documents in the online registration form:

  • A recent photo of your child
  • Birth certificate or ID (front and back)
  • Last two progress reports (Autumn & Spring)
  • Medical notes (if applicable)

If your child requires access arrangements, please upload a copy of the Psychologist’s Report. The report should include the relevant test scores.

The Entrance Assessment

Subject Interviews
Subject interviews are conducted by the Heads of Department for your child’s chosen A Level option subjects, as well as by the Headteacher and the Senior Leader in charge of Admissions.

Interviews for entry into the Academic Year 2026–2027 will be held on Friday, 5th June 2026.

Mid-Programme Entry Availability

  • Mid-Programme Entry into Years 2, 3, 4, and 6 is highly limited and depends on the availability of places within existing class lists. Each year, a small number of students may be offered admission, subject to space in the relevant year group and performance in the mid-programme entry exam.
  • All candidates will also receive an email informing them of the outcome of their application, along with detailed instructions on how to accept or decline an offer (where applicable).
  • Please note: The English School reserves the right to amend the number of students admitted at any stage, depending on internal capacity and educational needs.
