We provide a progressive, challenging Maths curriculum aligned with the English National Curriculum:

• Years 1–3: Active and collaborative learning.
• Years 3–4: Preparation for IGCSE Maths.
• Year 5: Students begin IAS Maths or AQA certification.
• Years 6–7: Students complete full IAS and IAL Maths qualifications, with dedicated support for Double Maths students.

Maths Enrichment

Our Maths Enrichment Programme, led by Mr. Andreas Demetriou, supports high-achieving students through:

• Participation in national and European competitions.
• Invitation-based entry based on entrance exam scores or maths competition performance.
• Mathletes Club: targeted preparation and proven success in competitions (e.g. 33 national awards in 2023–2024).

Entry Criteria for Year 1 Maths Enrichment Programme:

All students who wish to join the Year 1 Maths Enrichment Programme must sit a diagnostic assessment, which takes place after the school’s entrance examinations.

Students become eligible to take the diagnostic assessment through one of the following:

• Achieving 80% or above in the English School Mathematics Entrance Examination; or
• Having received an award in the District Mathematics Competition.

Students who meet the above criteria will be invited by the school to take part in the diagnostic assessment. Places will then be offered to the 15 students with the highest grades in the assessment. If there is a tie for the fifteenth place, all candidates with the same grade will be offered a place.

Launching in September 2025, our new Sports Programme is designed for students with exceptional talent and dedication in sports—particularly those training or competing at a national level.

This innovative initiative blends high-quality athletic training with academic excellence, enabling students to grow as both scholars and athletes. With scheduled morning training sessions built into the school timetable and guidance from expert coaches, students are supported to reach their full potential without compromising their studies.

The programme currently focuses on Football, Basketball, and Volleyball, with additional options like Tennis and Athletics depending on demand. Elite athletes in other disciplines are also welcome to express interest.

Participation is selective and based on athletic achievements, a practical evaluation, and commitment to continued training through external clubs or academies.

Through this programme, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals who are prepared to lead—on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.

What are super curricula activities and why they matter

Super-curricular activities (SPAs) are academic pursuits that go beyond the standard school curriculum, allowing students to deepen their knowledge and explore subjects they are passionate about in greater depth. These can include:

• reading academic journals
• attending university lectures
• entering essay competitions and Olympiads
• working independently on a project
• completing online courses
• participating in subject-related clubs and events
• undertaking work experience or internships directly related to the intended field of study.

Such activities demonstrate intellectual curiosity, independent learning, and a genuine interest in a particular field—qualities that top universities actively seek in applicants.

Engaging in super-curricular activities not only enhances a student’s understanding but also helps them stand out in competitive university admissions processes. Top universities in the UK and elsewhere place a lot of emphasis on SPAs because they indicate passion for the subject, the development of critical thinking and analytical skills and the ability to study independently. With SPAs, students can enhance and differentiate their university applications from others and improve their chances of being admitted into a top-ranked university.
