On Friday, 20 March 2026, the Economics Society was delighted to welcome Mr Yiannis Georgiou, who gave an engaging and thought-provoking talk to our students titled The Generation with the Unfair Advantage: Why You Were Born with the Ultimate Cheat Codes.
During his presentation, Mr Georgiou encouraged students to think positively about the world they are growing up in and the opportunities available to them today. He spoke about the value of education, the changing experience of studying abroad, and the major global shifts that are shaping the future.
A particularly memorable part of the talk was his idea that this generation has its own unique “cheat codes” — including artificial intelligence, the creator economy, and a growing awareness of mental health and self-understanding. His message was both inspiring and reassuring: young people today have powerful tools at their fingertips and great potential to shape their own future.
We are very grateful to Mr Georgiou for taking the time to speak to the Economics Society and for sharing such valuable insights with our students. It was an inspiring session that gave everyone plenty to reflect on.
