The Economics Society kicked off October with two engaging Friday sessions that opened students’ eyes to what studying Economics can look like at world-class universities. From programme content to student life—and even a taste of first-year lectures—senior students gained practical insight to help with future study choices.
10 October 2025 — Why Study at Bocconi (Italy)? with Ms Kaplani
Ms Kaplani introduced Bocconi University and outlined what makes its Economics pathways distinctive. Students heard an overview of courses and programme structures, the academic content and skills emphasized throughout the degree, and a candid look at student life in Milan—including societies, international opportunities, and what to expect day-to-day. A Q&A rounded off the session with practical advice on preparing a strong application.
17 October 2025 — Economics Extension Society: Durham Taster with Mr Sofianos (Alumnus)
Alumnus Mr Sofianos returned to share his experience at the University of Durham and delivered a taster lecture to give students a feel for first-year Economics. The session explored why Durham is a compelling choice for Economics—covering teaching style, critical thinking, and quantitative foundations—and concluded with application tips and reflections on balancing academic work with collegiate life.
