Rest in Peace Mr George Fraser
Geography Teacher and DofE Award Leader 1967-1971
It is almost entirely due to Mr Fraser's energy and initiative (like his wife's) that The Duke of Edinburgh Scheme has achieved such success at the School. - School Magazine June 1971
It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of Mr George Fraser. May he rest in peace.
In 1967, George and Frances Fraser, a couple from Aberdeen Scotland, came to School to teach Geography and English respectively. They were placed in charge of the "Olympus Club" and within a year with the encouragement of the then Headmaster Mr David H. Humphreys, it turned into the DofE Award as we know it today! The Frasers left the School in 1971, but little did they know that a club they started with 40 students over 50 years ago, would develop into the Award as we know it today with currently over 600 participants.
