Our English Teacher, Dr. Selma Karayalcin, published a study.  Hemingway's Fishing Rod: A Study of the First African Plane Crash and Rescue in The Hemingway Review.  The Hemingway Review is one of the most prestigious journals on literature.  With this amazing account The Hemingway Review has invited her to be a Reader which means she decides on whether essays are worthy of publications!

Dr. Selma Karayalcin, has been working in our English Department since 2004-studied at Leicester and Kings, London.  While she has had other articles published and presents academic papers at conferences, her latest article is an essay which examines Ernest Hemingway’s recollections of the airplane crashes and rescues during his second African safari in articles for Look magazine. This article present a man in denial concerning the physical and psychological effects of his injuries. The essay analyzes Hemingway’s accounts of the story and compares them a version obtained in an interview with Gino Abreo, son of the man who rescued the Hemingways.

She has also been invited to be a Reader for The Hemingway Review which means deciding on whether essays are worthy of publication.

Further, we were very happy to hear, that the English Language Center at the University of Cyprus have invited Dr. Karayalcin, to be a guest speaker at an event: "ELT for a Day: Current Trends to talk about trends in language teaching to young learners".

We hope all goes well and Congratulations!
