Christmas message from The Board of Managment
The Board of Management’s letter to Parents and Guardians.

As we reach the end of the Autumn Term, we look back on the milestones reached which include the many changes implemented last year under the leadership of our Headmaster and Senior Management Team which enabled the School to move forward, not only academically, but also on health & safety issues. This brings us in line with the standards of similar UK independent Schools, as was documented in the recent ISI inspection, and is appreciated by all.
One major milestone was the recent inauguration of the new Newham Building by H.E. The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Mr George Lakkotrypis, and we are most grateful to the Government for its generous funding of this project. Another recent inauguration, that of the Years 6 and 7 Students’ Centre, was made possible by the generous contribution of a 1996 Graduate of our School. In recent times improvement was made to our Sports Centre, its changing rooms, and the construction of a Gym for our students’ and staff’s use. In the new year works will be completed on the new Tennis courts, and the Futsal and main football pitches, under a BOT agreement. Improvements to our running track are also planned for the near future.
A more enterprising project is being planned by the Board which will be undertaken in phases over a number of years and will improve the School’s landscape, making it more environmentally welcoming for the School and the local community, while enhancing the School’s identity and ownership of the area.
We are aware that the continued support offered by our parents contributes to our students’ excellent achievements and the Board of Management expresses its appreciation and gratitude to our parent population for their devotion in ensuring that their child is offered the best possible support, and for entrusting the education of their child to The English School.
On behalf of myself and the other members of the Board of Management, we wish all our parents and guardians the very best for a restful holiday break, and to those who will be celebrating the Christmas season, we wish a very Merry Christmas, with the best of health and happiness for all in the New Year 2020.
