A THOK National Theatre Screening of Amadeus by Peter Shaffer
On the 21st March our Drama GCSE group visited a National Theatre Live Screening production of Amadeus by Peter Shaffer at THOK in Nicosia.

The Five Star performance covering the themes of Music, Power and Jealousy offered the students an opportunity to witness professional theatre at a high level, taking into account a variety of acting skills, set design and staging.
A section of their GCSE examination requires students to analyse and evaluate a live theatre performance they have seen. Due to our limited access to British theatre in the country it is key for students to be surrounded with every opportunity to watch any form of a live production. Students responded very positively commenting: “Watching Amadeus I realised that theatre takes a lot of courage and it is reflected in the actor’s outstanding performances and experience obtained over time” Fotis Lambrou, whilst another stated that “Salieri inspired a new way of thinking in approaching new characters” Nicholas Katsavras.
“It was awesome! Salieri was my favourite but what influenced me the most was Mozart’s agitated yet eccentric performance through his voice and his movement. Hopefully I will be able to create a successful portrayal of him through my monologue” Nikolas Antoniou. A thrilling production-We look forward to seeing more!
