Year 5 Students Explore English A-Level Options
On Friday, 29th November, Year 5 students at The English School attended a special presentation introducing them to the English A-Level options available for their future studies. The event was organized by the English Department and featured insightful presentations from Year 6 students currently pursuing English A-Level courses.
The session highlighted two distinct pathways: English Literature IAL and English Language IAL, offering a comprehensive overview of each course’s content, the skills students can develop, and potential career prospects.
Year 6 students shared their personal experiences, emphasizing the enriching nature of studying English at an advanced level. They detailed how the courses have helped them build critical thinking, analytical writing, and creative communication skills—attributes highly valued in many career fields such as journalism, law, publishing, and education.
Teachers from the English Department also elaborated on how each course nurtures a deeper understanding of language and literature while fostering intellectual curiosity and self-expression.
The event left Year 5 students inspired and better informed, ready to consider how English A-Level courses can align with their academic interests and future aspirations.
A special thanks to the English Department and Year 6 students for their engaging presentations and valuable guidance.
