The expedition to Kenya will take place during the summer 2018 starting 27 July for approximately 10 days. A group of 8 English School members will be travelling together with Volunteer Doctors of Cyprus to Nairobi. Our mission is to offer our assistance in every and any aspect of the school and orphanage.
This will include much needed repairs and maintenance work (repair of windows, plumbing, wood-work, assembling desks, painting etc.), purchases (equipment and supplies for the school), playing games and sports with the children, teaching and sharing some time, experience and knowledge with them. Our role is to have a tangible impact on the center and lives of the children.
At the time, we are approaching various individual and companies to sponsor our mission. A sponsor is whoever donates above 300 euros. Smaller sums are viewed as donations. All money raised will be used for the purchases of supplies in Kenya which include tools, furniture, oven, fridges, televisions, computers, bed linen etc. What we would like from the wider English School community are donations of any amount. Every penny will count!
We envision that our trip to Kenya will be the beginning of a tradition where in the following years we can bring senior students along to continue our initial efforts. Our trip is essential to ensure feasibility and also to conduct a risk assessment.
