Congratulations to our Year 4 student Ara Mahdessian who did extremely well and received an Honourable Mention in the14th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), organized in Bogota, Colombia.

Around 300 students from 50 countries all over the world participated in the Olympiad which due to the pandemic was carried out online under strict surveillance rules.
Ara was the youngest member of the Cypriot team and was selected after distinction in the Pancyprian Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics. He now follows in the footsteps of our graduates Stelios Sycallides ESL20 and Hrachya Zakaryan ESL18 and becomes one of only 4 Cypriots who have achieved an Honourable Mention in this competition.
The next Olympiad will be held in Ukraine in August 2022. Any students who wish to try for a place in the Cypriot team can take part in the Pancyprian Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics which will be held on April 17, 2022. Please contact Ms Katie Demetriou for further information.
