The Graduation Ceremony took place on Tuesday 28th June 2016.  It was a spectacular evening, with inspiration speeches, mesmerising musical interludes and many award winners. We bid farewell to amazing group of students. A close of one chapter, the beginning of a new one.  We wish our graduates all the best for their future!

The Graduation Ceremony was opened by the Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Georgiou, Assistant Head.
Ms. Magda Nicholson, Chair of the Board, was invited to the podium to welcome our Graduates and Guests. She highlighted some of the amazing and outstanding accomplishments of our graduates.  A copy of which can be downloaded here.

This was followed by a brief musical interlude by the The English School brass ensemble. On Trumpets - Themis Themistou (Yr6), Afxentis Georgallis (Yr5), Simonas Petrides (Yr5), Sophia Constantinou (Yr3). Playing the Trombones - Costas Anastasiou (Yr6), Nicholas Yiakoumi (Yr7). Euphonium - Christina Hadjinicolaou (Yr4).  It  was directed by Gareth Griffiths. The piece played was “thePrelude from Te Deum” by Marc Antoine Charpentier, better known more recently as the theme of the European Broadcasting Union.

Ms. Asvesta, Assistant Head, announced the 30 Awards that were given to over 45 graduates who had excelled in specific areas.  Following the presentation of the Awards, the Headmaster addressed the graduates, parents and teachers. Our Guest Speaker, Mr. Constantinos M. Michael, an English School graduate of 2000 who currently works for GOOGLE, was invited to the podium and gave a most insightful and inspiring speech. Copy o fthe speech can be downloaded here.

Graduation certificates were awarded to each graduate by the Headmaster and the Guest of Honour. Graduates were called up in their Forms by their Form Tutors. The Head of Year, Mr. James Lodge, introduced each Form Tutor and invited them to the podium.

The presentation of the Graduation Certificates were interrupted by a second musical interlude from the members of the Senior Choir singing “Stand by Me” by Ben E King, specially dedicated to our graduating class and their parents.  This was an extract from our Jazz Concert “Feeling Good” earlier in the year. It was an acapella arrangement and  perfectly captured the camaraderie of our students. It  featured two soloists, both graduating students:  Emily Bagdades and Elli Petrides.

The Graduation Ceremony ended with closing remarks from our highly cherished, Head Girl Yiolandi Maou and Head Boy Onat Ataman (speech can be downloaded here). The Head Boy and Girl performed their last duty that night by honouring our Guest of Honour, and presenting him with a bouquet.

The Graduates were then asked to  face the audience, and then, in keeping with graduation tradition, to turn their Graduation Tassel to the other side of their caps.

As our Graduates left the Ceremony, they listened to the song  “Our Way (The Memories)" composed by their peers: Petros Zonias and Emily Bagdades.  The year group voted that this song be played during their exit. A copy of the song can be downloaded here.

Family and friends joined our Graduates for refreshments and snacks.
