On April 20th, 2016, Mr. George Lakkotrypis, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, delivered a speech at English School on hydrocarbons and its effects on the Cypriot economy. He stated that the indications for the presence of significant quantities of hydrocarbons in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus and the decision to proceed with the exploration may prove to be a tremendous opportunity for our country. Moreover, global energy companies are expected to make substantial investments in Cyprus and thus create new jobs as well. It is also anticipated the creation of a knowledge-based economy around the oil and gas industry.
It was indeed an honor for us that we had Mr. Lakkotrypis at our school and we sincerely thank him for this very informative speech.
