Educational Trip

The Spanish trip to Madrid took place from 29th to 6th July and proved a tremendous success! 

Our Year 3 students who chose to study Spanish as a second language at IGCSE next year spent a week full of new experiences and activities in the capital of Spain. The students were accompanied by our hosts, local teachers of Abecedatic (Madrid), and ES teachers, Chryso Constantinou, Stalo Achilleos, Charis Sisou and Philip Georgiades. 

During the trip, they experienced Madrid moving around on a private bus. They also had the opportunity to go on a guided tour of the IE Business School of Madrid and Segovia and the different faculties of the European University of Madrid. They practised and revised their Spanish with local, experienced teachers and visited the museum of Reina Sofia, the Bernabeu stadium, and Retiro Park. They tried local traditional dishes and pastries and went shopping in Gran Via and Goya. They spent a whole day in the thematic park of Warner Bros, taking pictures with Superheroes and enjoying different rides. They rested in a student hall in Madrid with a restaurant, entertainment area, single rooms, and libraries to study in their free time. They went to a club, sang, and danced along to Spanish hits, which was much needed after a long and challenging school year. On our last night, our residence organised a roof party with the Spanish teachers of Madrid. The ambassador of Cyprus in Spain, Mrs Helena Mina, visited us, chatted with our students, and gave them their course certificates and presents. Cypriot students and teachers of the Spanish Universities we saw honoured us with their presence, giving the students various awards.
 
Students commented that it was an unforgettable trip as this experience has inspired them and motivated them to learn the language further and accomplish their goals by studying in Spain in the future.
