Year 6 student Andrea Kiliari represented Cyprus in the Model European Parliament, MEP Tallinn 2018 from February 17-24 together with the Cyprus delegation

This is what Andrea has to say about her experience.

MEP, an experience of a lifetime.
Having arrived in Tallinn, cold air and snowflakes welcomed us ‘warmly’, strangely enough! The beautiful city through the train windows looked very promising, and we were all eager to arrive at our hostel and get to meet the other delegations. The great thing about MEP, is that you get to meet so many people, from several countries, most of which you haven’t ever visited yet. In the hostel, we bonded so well with delegates from Austria, Romania, Turkey, Slovakia, and the list goes on. These people, also made up the Committee meetings, during which fruitful debates were going on, in order for a resolution on a certain topic to be written. Resolution writing is challenging, yet so inspiring at the same time. Exchanging opinions and views enriches your understanding of the world, and even though sometimes you may not share the views of others, this only makes you more open minded and tolerant. By the end of committee sessions, the resolution is done. Thoughtful, well edited, formal enough to reflect the hard work it consists of. The resolutions are presented, and debated on in the General Assembly, where all the delegations attend. Speaking in front of such an audience, and expressing your opinions on such crucial current affairs, definitely carries a sense of thrill as well as excitement. Defending your resolution feels like guarding your most precious belonging. The group hug with your fellow delegates, once the resolution passes, is one of the most satisfying, fulfilling moments in the entire MEP journey. After a week of hard work, a lot of fun and laughter, the journey came to an end. I will always cherish these moments in Tallinn, the people, the scenery and all the great things I have learned all along.
