Happy New Year!

February 1st, 2022 marked the beginning of the Lunar New Year which is celebrated by over 1.5 billion people around the world. 2002 is the Year of the Tiger which stands for courage, strength, and generosity.

To mark this event on Friday, 28th January teachers from the Confucius Institute at University of Cyprus visited our school and shared with our students facts and traditions about the Lunar New Year. YouYou Tian (2W) and Yuanhong Xie (6B) welcomed our guests with a performance of the Chinese Folk Song "Mo Li Hua" (Mòlìhuā ; 茉莉花, Jasmine Flower).

This was followed by an interactive presentation in the Music room to Year 1 students who are currently learning about Chinese Music and by a calligraphy session with Year 6 students in the Art room. The students were deeply engaged, participated enthusiastically and each one of them received a gift to take home.

On February 1st we celebrated the occasion with live performances by Peiqi Song (2B), YouYou Tian (2W), Yuanhong Xie (6B), XiTong Peng (4J), Xinhui He (3Y). The students shared music from their culture and performed by the beautiful display prepared by the Art Department
