English School Students attend EY Summer Internship Programme - towards a better working world.
For the first time this year, EY introduced Future Skills Summership, a new summer internship scheme, addressed specifically to high school students.
Participants had the opportunity to dive into topics not typically covered in schools, meet EY professionals, and get a glimpse of life at EY. During the week-long course, students explored future-focused topics, such as environmental sustainability, emerging technology, civic literacy, financial literacy and more.
These workshops were aimed at inspiring students to unlock new passions, explore potential career paths and teach skills needed for the future working world. All of the workshops were designed to equip young people with transferable skills that will set them up for success and to work towards creating a better working world.
18 year 5 and 6 students from the English School participated in what we hope will become an annual internship. In the words of Mariam Petrossian, year 6:
"The program lasted 4 days in total with two sessions held every day. The first day was of introductory nature, and the students got a full tour of the Nicosia offices and further got insight into the general operations at EY. Over the course of the next three days, experts and professionals of specifics fields (consultants, auditors, financial and technological advisors etc) were invited to talk to the students. The Summership Program included several interactive activities, team working exercises, Q&A's with the guest speakers and a workshop on how to succeed in interviews. Overall, the program was fruitful having allowed students to work amongst themselves to delve deeper into the workplace environment."
EΥ Cyprus continues to invest in the younger generation, offering students the opportunity to enhance their skills through its Summer Internship Programmes. This year we were happy to partner with EY Cyprus in their generous donation of an award presented at our Graduation Ceremony on June 25th : The EY Excellence in STEM Award, the first recipient of which was Odysseas Herodotou.
