Dia de los Muertos - A day to remember loved ones.
On Tuesday 2nd November, the Modern Languages and the Art Department organised celebration of the dead, or 'Dia de los Muertos'.
Students from year 1-3 were invited to take part in this festival, similar to "All Souls" day.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a celebration of life and death. While the holiday originated in Mexico, it is celebrated all over Latin America with colorful calaveras (skulls) and calacas (skeletons) Celebrations feature building home altars, dressing up, aztec marigold flowers (cempazúchitl), cooking, eating and dancing.
Take a look at the photos and video for our own Dia de los Muertos celebration at school. With thanks to all who took part, and to Classmates for sponsoring the white t shirts.
