The Arts are Alive - Vienna Edition
Creative and Performing Arts trip to Vienna, March 27th April 1st 2019
On March 27th an unprecedented number of 95 choir, band, art and drama students with 10 accompanying teachers set off to the beautiful European city of Vienna. We spent 4 full days in workshops, at performances and taking in as much culture as we possibly could. Drama students had the opportunity to attend a play and workshop while art students enjoyed Klimt, Monet, Schiele and Picasso. Our band members attended a workshop with a member of the Vienna Philharmonic while our choir experienced the world famous Vienna Boys Choir at Augarten Palace.
Together we made apple strudel, learned to perform a Viennese Waltz and explored the museum quarter. A highlight for all of us was the opportunity to sing in the Leopold Museum, and a brief visit to Prater amusement park left us all wanting to return to Vienna very soon.
Despite being such a large group, students worked extremely well together and everyone learned something new. We arrived back at school - with our unicorn mascot - with only one complaint - it was over too soon! We can’t wait for our next trip - Long live the arts!
Many thanks to the staff who gave up their time to organise and accompany the students:
