1R Students created and sold Christmas ornaments during December.  A total of EUR584 was collected for the Makarios Hospital.

On the 11th of January 2019, the Form Tutor of 1R, Ms Myrto Hassapopoulou, organised a visit to Makarios Hospital. 1 Red students were accompanied by their Form Tutor, Ms Yianna Nicolaou, Mr Lefteris Neoptolemou, Ms Aliki Souzou, Ms Vanessa Crambert and Ms Maria Rousou.

Doctors gave a talk to the students and congratulated them for their kindness and for organising the charity event. Our students then visited the children who are hospitalised, spreading some cheer by giving them some gifts.

The main objectives of the visit were to:

  • give the money collected from our Christmas decorations bazaar.
  • raise awareness and sensitivity on the fact that there are so many unlucky patients who suffer from various illnesses, who at the same time a number of them come from poor families who need the support from those who are more fortunate.
  • for our students to appreciate the gift of good health and standard of living.
The amount donated to Makarios Hospital will be used to buy a special machine for monitoring new-borns’ ability to swallow.
Special thanks goes to the students and their teachers for making this happen
